What to get your Delivery Driver this Holiday Season

What to get your Delivery Driver this Holiday Season

The Holiday season is upon us, which means Santa (and all the rest of us) are making our lists and checking them twice. While you focus on making sure you've got the perfect gift for everyone on your list, it's important to remember the people working overtime to ensure those presents end up where they need to be - Delivery Drivers! If you have a driver in your life (and really, who doesn't?) why not do a little something special to show your appreciation this Holiday season?

Here are 3 ideas for spreading the cheer to your Drivers this year:

1. Gift cards

If you’re in need of a simple way to thank your Driver, a gift card allows the recipient to pick out something for themselves, so you know they’re getting something they want. It can be for any amount, and is a great way to say thanks to someone when you don't quite know them well enough to feel confident in picking out a unique gift.

Some options for gift cards include a local coffee shop, a local store, or even a visa gift card if you want to keep the options for how your recipient uses it wide open. Any amount will be appreciated, and depending on your budget we'd suggest a range from $5 to $20.

If you see your drivers face to face regularly you can of course hand it to them, or if not, you can use the idea this Driver on reddit came across:

2. Snacks and drinks

Delivery Drivers work long hours and during peak Holiday seasons and they often don't get a chance to stop for breaks. This gift is sure to be appreciated by anyone who works in the last mile industry, and it’s an easy way to show your appreciation without breaking the bank.

In terms of what to include in the goodie basket, options are endless but here's some standard items we know drivers appreciate:

  • water bottles
  • cookies
  • chips
  • health bars
  • gatorade
  • energy drinks

Here are a couple examples of some customers that have gone above and beyond:

3 . Tips

If you’ve got a few extra bucks on hand, consider giving it directly to your Driver. It doesn’t have to be substantial; even a few dollars can signal your appreciation for everything they do for you throughout the year.

We recommend tipping between $5 and $20, depending on your budget. A nice touch is to include a small note of thanks along with your tip, or put the tip in a Holiday card.

However you choose to show it, just saying thanks goes a long way.

Delivery drivers are the unsung heroes who keep our lives running smoothly, especially during the busiest time of year, and they often go unappreciated. Whether you choose to give your Driver one of the above gifts or something else, just don’t forget to let your delivery Drivers how much their hard work means to you over this Holiday season.

DRIVR is building a platform that allows secure, cashless tipping, so you can show your Driver appreciation year round.
